The association would ask all members who discover incidents of pollution in the River Derwent to take the following three steps: 1.Inform the Environment Agency as soon as possible, with as much information as you can give them with regard to the type of pollution and the location. A day on the river with England Rivers champ Simon Robinson is up for grabs in a charity raffle in aid of children’s cancer research organised by the madabouttrout website. The victorious England team, who were captained by Howard, took the first four individual placings while Simon won the Individual Championship with four firsts in each [...] A number of pairs of waders and wading boots of various brands and styles were stolen in a break-in at Ian Woods’ Game Fishing Supplies in Morpeth on Thursday (1 July) night. All the items taken are brand new and boxed so if anyone is offered any wading boots or waders cheap, could they [...] Most fly fishing is based upon imitating the foodstuff of our quarry. For the river angler this predominantly means imitating insects at various stages of their life cycle. To be able to do this we need to be able to identify the insects and have a basic knowledge of their life cycle. The Big Fish 2010, in aid of Macmillan Cancer Support, will this year take place on Sunday 13 June from 10am-4pm at Derwent Reservoir. All money received from this event will go to help people living with cancer in our region.
